This new interpretation of Perfect Oud picks up on the theme of its predecessor: the fascination and memory of extraordinary wood slowly burning over embers. But here, Alberto Morillas goes to the very heart of the wood, as if zooming in on the material, exploring its richness, its power, its magic.
Alaska cedar with its mineral and densely leathery inflections remains the main protagonist, while revealing a new vivacity with cardamom and an almost liquorish depth with rum. The contrast between these two extremes is exacerbated, and the floral, amber note that rounds out the composition is expressed with greater intensity. The memory of this wood comes back with greater force and mystery.
